A civil ceremony may be held throughout Greece and it depends only on the couple’s patience to overcome the bureaucracy of not so well developed wedding destinations. For example, Sporades islands, Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos shown in the Mamma Mia musical, impressed many couples. Other couples were charmed by the Ionian islands of Kefalonia and Corfu. But when it comes to the official ceremony there, the things get a bit difficult due to changing wedding laws. That is why couples choose rather the islands of Santorini, Crete, Rhodes and Zakynthos that are straightforward.
Being large tourist centers, these islands have strong wedding scenes requiring the same paperwork every year, with wonderful wedding venues and a great wedding infrastructure that can hold ceremonies of any level. Everything can be organized for the event, from the florist and decoration, to numerous restaurants and coiffures and even wedding dress rentals for brides who do not want to carry a gown from home.
